Okay, I was delighted to find out that someone has posted most of the original cast of The Last Five Years on youtube. I’m sure it’ll be down ASAP, but in the meantime, I keep watching them over and over. Both of the leads don’t oversell their theater-ness; they have honest faces that make me really really happy. Here’s a sample of Norbert Leo Butz pulling you in like he’s just talking to you, but at the same time he’s sneakily giving an amazing singing performance. Makes it look so easy, like he was born to do it.
