I was talking about acoustic covers yesterday, and I keep listening to them now.
Here’s one I’m listening to, The Killers doing an acoustic version of “Smile Like You Mean It”. I am bugged that the comment by one of the people that his face looks blank while he sings, which to me is missing all that is going on in his eyes. There’s a little nervousness and concentrating on his voice up top, yeah, but there’s personal shit going on underneath it, and it’s heartbreaking that someone out there missed that. Like one of my old film teachers said, the camera picks up everything.
